The Cirque du Freak series, by Darren Shan [YA Fiction]

The Darren Shan novels are well-known. Unfortunately, they’re awful. Darren, the narrator, is whiny and annoying. The books are extremely short and very predictable. 1/3 of the way through, you can predict EXACTLY what’s going to happen. They’re extremely boring.
I warn you. Don’t read them.

Are you kidding its a great series for people who are fans of fantasy and the supernaturel I have read all 12 books and I think there great and pleas never say dont read a book ….. some times people like it.

This series is an incredible journey to stay alive! I love the way the story line is, it is so unpredictable. You will never come across any other book like this one!!!!!!!!

love the books, i’m on 10, cant wait till they make the movie, it’s commin out sometime in 2008, so far awawy, lol. hopefully the dont screw it all up. which actors should they get to play who, i think anthony hopkins for mr. tiny, the magic of technology could make him shorter. anyways,

and the books are not predictable! the book twists completely, even if you “know” whats gonna happen. i doubt if your 1/3 into the book, you can say whats gonna happen, unless it a kids learing book. they aren’t predictable. im on the 11th book and they are the best books i have ever read. no joke. :].
also the books aren’t very short either. i mean compared to like harry potter or huge novels, sure, i guess.

I agree with the reviewer. Thses books are stupid and very predictable. And the narrarotor IS whiny. If you can’t figure out how a narrator is whiny, I pity you. He needs to suck it up and deal. (And the movie will be ten times worse then the books. They always are)

i ove these books i stayed up all night and now im on # 3, i love the part about the pickled onions in the last book, i feel like iam one with the characters. i didnt know they were making a movie. im so psyiced. i hope they dont ruin it like they did with a series of unfortunate events. I would have to agree with some of you it is better then the hp series. well i g2g so bye.

Alright, whoever says these books are predictable is as wrong as you can go!!! in book nine, the most unpredictable and sadd thing happens. once you really get into the series (by the way you should cause they rock!) you would never expect wht happens in 9-12. ive read every single book in the series and i can honestly say that im sad that its over and darren shan should write more series like that! i cant wait for the movie cause i know that its gonna blow the theatres apart!!!

I love this series. They give me a reason to tune out my teacher in class and read. Im on book 8 right now and i cant wait to read the rest of the books and see the movie(i agree, i hope they dont spoil this part)

I’ve read all of them up to book 11. I;m wiating to read book 12. i love these books. Although it starts to gets sad by book 9. i have to warn whoever who reads these books, that once yu start reading them you can’t stop.

This is the best book series ever made its not predicable i DONT EVER read. In my school during ela is when we read the first 1 as a class ive been taking all of them out of the library and i cant put these books down and Btw people who think the series ends at book 12 it dosent there is a completely different series of books that are later on in darrens life

I will not say much more, other than these books have given me inspiration for making video games, and I was thinking about it while making a music video, “white and Nerdy”, anyway, aren’t you in the book club or something?
you should know a good book when you read one, but I have to say, the book was thrown out of proportion later, too much magic, but it takes alot to think up a book like that, even with my ideas I could never make something this successful, but hey, it’s just not to your tastes, and I shouldn’t say anything about it. okay, Araagen Rensuju , you just revealed that you’re one of two people…and i’m pretty sure which one, thank you for saying it nicely and for using correct spelling. Yes i am in the book club. I do know a good book. And in my opinion, i don’t include this series in that category.

The reason I picked this series up is because I saw people in school who don’t like reading actually reading a book. And a lot of them. Contiue reading! But don’t start bad mouthing me. All I’m saying is for people who like reading and read a lot, these books suck.

I started reading this book 4 years ago and I still read it. I didn’t care about books back then until someone recommended it to me.
It wasn’t predictable to me and I didn’t thought Darren was whiny.
But everyone has different opinions on what a good book is.
I think some best-selling books (like Twilight) is so boring while others thinks they’re good.
Although, the fact that some people call you names for calling it “whiny and predictable” was unnecessary.

i think you just dont know how to read. I have been reading these books since i was 10 and never got bored with them. they are actually quite captivating. Now i have to admit that the these books do not compare with the Twilight series. i thought these books were quite captivating.

OMG I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!! Im only on the 5th one but they are the BEST books i have ever read(and i’ve read a lot of good books)! I just cant put them down! Once i read the first one i got hooked on them! Darren Shan is a genious and he should write another great series like cirque du freak! I cant wait for the movie! I also cant wait till Steve Leonard(Leopard) comes back! I like him the most! I also like Mr. Crepsley and Evra Von a lot! Well i gotta go read!! Lol!!
