The Name of This Book is Secret

The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch  [J Fiction]

by Jessica, 7th grader

The Name of This Book is Secret is a very secret book. The author does not tell you the characters’ names, what they look like, or where they live. Don’t be too upset, though- he does this for your own good. When a wizard mysteriously dies in a fire that smells like rotten eggs, and the main character and her new friend find a “symphony of smells”, a very deadly story begins to unravel.

Hattie Big Sky

Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson  [YA Fiction]

by Abby, 7th grader

Hattie Big Sky is one of my favorite historical fiction books. It is about a girl from Iowa who moves to Montana during World War I. She experiences farming and the drama of the War. Her adventures make up this amazing book.

The Three Musketeers

The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas  [YA Fiction]

by Christine, 12th grader

After reading “The Count of Monte Cristo”, I knew I was in  for a treat with The Three Musketeers, and I was right.

Though not quite as complicated (or as long), The Three Musketeers is equally amazing. It follows the life of the young D’Artagnan, whose dearest wish is to be a Musketeer. He becomes friends with the famous three: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, and falls in love with the beautiful Madame Bonacieux. The adventure truly begins when Madame gets kidnapped and D’Artagnan vows to rescue her. Along the way, he saves the Queen from shame, nearly saves the Prime Minister of France, uncovers the many secrets that were meant to remain secret, and takes revenge on several people.

All in all, it was a WONDERFUL story, and I highly recommend it. It is not for younger readers, though. Length aside, there is some inappropriate content.

Seventeenth Summer

Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly  [YA Fiction]

by Aziza, 7th grader

This was a very cute book that I enjoyed reading. The title says it all, because the story is about Angie’s (the main character) seventeenth summer. This book is filled with love and will make you feel as if you’re a character in the story, too. However, I must admit the ending was disappointing- so many unanswered questions still remain- but you should definitely give Seventeenth Summer a try.

Dolphins by Jacques-Ives Cousteau [J Nonfiction- we don't own]

by Sage, 7th grader

Jacques-Ives Cousteau goes on an adventure to see how dolphins respond to their environment. Cousteau tagged dolphins to see where they migrate to. This book is packed with page after page covering all aspects of Dolphin life and behavior.

Max

Max by James Patterson  [YA Fiction]

by Maria, 8th grader

The 5th book of the Maximum Ride series is definitely an improvement on the fourth one. Max finds herself facing big issues- personal and world-wide. The more action, romance, and adventure, the better! Max and Fang stick together through it all, and desperately try to find Mr. Chu’s secret plan- and Max’s missing mother!

by Meghan, age 13

Max, by james Patterson, pulls you into the action as Max and the flock battle the “M-Geeks”! When I was reading this, I couldn’t put it down! It was breathtaking.
