Neptune’s Children by Bonnie Dobkin  [YA Graphic Novel]

by Marina, 11th grader

Neptune’s Children is a fantastic tale of survival, power hunger, and rebellion.  And it tries to answer every kid’s question of ‘what if there were no adults?’.  When biological warfare spreads a disease that kills everyone but the children, what are they supposed to do?  Thousands of kids are left stranded on a theme park called Isles of Wonder.  When some children take the lead who is there to challenge them?  And what happens when everything starts going wrong?  A really wonderful book for teenagers and up.

The Robber and Me

The Robber and Me by Joseph Holub  [J Fiction]

by Marina, 11th grader

The  Robber and Me is a sweet story about 11-year-old Boniface trying to fit into his new village. It’s a story about doing the right thing, fitting in, and believing in yourself and your ideas. When Boniface gets lost in the woods traveling to his new home with his uncle, the supposedly evil Robber Knapp carries him to safety. So how was he in another place robbing someone? Boniface tries to adjust to the very different lifestyle of the country and tries to please his uncle and believe in his friend at the same time.  A really great book for any age.
