The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky [YA Fiction]

by Refund, 10th grader

A quick, adorable read about an awkward nobody named Charlie. Not a book for kids by a long shot, but it’s a heartwarming, sometimes extremely sad story with sympathetic characterse and a simple storyline that keeps one interested. Dealing with subjects a teenager sometimes faces like drugs, sexuality, and even just fitting in or finding friends or finding oneself. The writing style isn’t very complex or detailed and the town or school or even the names of the majority of Charlie’s family are never revealed, but that makes it all the more relatable for the read. I definitely recommend it.
