Stravaganza: City of Secrets

Stravaganza: City of Secrets by Mary Hoffman  [YA Fiction – we don’t own]

by Sarah, 7th grader

The 4th book in the  series, this book is about dyslexic 16-year-old Matt, who almost never reads. Then, he walks into an antique shop and is attracted to a book written in Latin. That night, he is transported to Talia, a 15th century Italy – perhaps in another dimension, where he adopts the name Matteo and must pretend to be Constantin’s apprentice. Then he meets Luciano, who is our dimension was Lucien. His talisman was stolen from him, so he could not return to England and his body was taken off life support so now Talia is his world. This book has everything; mischief and wonder, hi-jinx and daring, spying and religion and Dukes and Duchessas. It’s a great book.
